New Bill Helps Physicians Avoid More Medicare Pay Cuts
CMS has acknowledged it is difficult for physicians to comply with the 2015 Meaningful Use (MU) program requirements at this late date because the final rules were just released in October 2015. Failure to comply results in a 3% pay cut for 2017. The final rule changed the reporting period from one year to ninety days. CMS allowed physicians to apply for a hardship exemption for “extreme and uncontrollable” circumstances, which would be evaluated on a “case-by-case basis.”
